I am thrilled to report that the 1953 Allard J2X #3144 which resides in the CCA Private Collection swept the Road & Track Concours in its first outing since being restored our hollowed-out tree by the CCA Elves.
One of 83 J2X Allards built, #3144 has a fascinating history and had long thought to be lost to the hands of time. Until this past January it hadn't seen daylight in almost three decades.
While I am quite fond of the little bugger, none of us at CCA were quite sure how the public would react to it. It isn't sexy like a Ferrari 250 Testarossa, or menacing like a Raven Black Boss 429. It is actually kind of goofy looking, and I mean that in the best way possible! However, I am happy to report that the response was overwhelmingly positive and everybody loved it- including the judges! After winning "First in Class" on Saturday, July 18th, 3144 went on to win "Best in Show" the next day against incredibly stiff competition.
Thank you to all that stopped by to say "hi" and comment on our latest restoration. Watch for the full story on 3144 and full pictures in the "Private Collection" section of this website soon.
