Classic American Muscle Car
This is a real 1969 COPO 9560AA ZL-1 Camaro, one of 69 originally produced. It is sequence number 18, one of the first batch of 50 cars ordered by Fred Gibb.
The ZL-1 Camaros are considered by many to be the ultimate muscle car of all time. While some may like to debate that fact, nobody can argue that there was never a more radical or pure race car unleashed by anybody under the guise of being a street car!
Of the original 69 cars , just 41 have survived. Of this 41, just seven cars have been documented as having their original, factory installed and matching numbers engine. #18 is one of these cars, and better still, is an original 4 speed car in the highly desirable Dusk Blue color. Only 10 cars were built in this color.#18 also has just 17,000 miles from new!
#18 has an entirely documented and fantastic history from new. It comes with the original dealer order sheet and original bill of sale ! A full title history has been done and all nine owners from new are documented. Mr. Ed Cuneen of the COPO Connection, the Guru of all things COPO, has inspected and certified #18 as being authentic in person.
The U.S. Camaro Club ( U.S.C.C.) purchased #18 from the famous Bob Porter collection in 1992, and used this car as their give-a-way car to celebrate the 25th Anniversary of the 1969 Camaro in 1994 ! Since that time, #18 was given a true concours level, #1 restoration by renowned Camaro expert Dave Tinnell in 2000. The owner at that time is a highly fastidious collector who wanted the absolute finest restored ZL-1 in existence and spared no expense in achieving that goal. It is truly incredible in every respect.
This "Holy Grail" of the muscle car world SOLD at the Mecum Auction Fall Premier Sale, October 15th, 2005 in St. Charles, Illinois, for the World Record price of $840,000.
Thank you for all of your interest and support as #18 once again made history.
